Guide to Port Forwarding – Netgear Router

The port forwarding set up is reliant upon the specific brand and model number of the router being used. Port forwarding of a router is required to allow access to your network device. Regardless of the Netgear router being used, the process of port forwarding is similar. You willneed to enable the ports by locating the port range forwarding screen. The set up instructionoutlined below is an example of port forwarding a Netgear Router using Netgear Model WGR614.

Step 1
Open your web browser.
Enter the router IP address in the address bar as shown below, followed by pressing

Step 2
Some router/modems require a username and/or password, if yours requires it, enter the routers username and password here. Then click “Log In”
If you have changed it and don’t remember it you may have to reset your device to factory default using the reset button on most routers.
If you don’t know it you can check the user manual for your router.

Step 3
Click “Port Forwarding/Port Triggering” on the left side menu

Step 4
Click Add Custom Service

Step 5
First give your camera a name under “Service Name”e.g Foscam Cam
Next select Service Type as TCP
Next for “Starting Port” enter in the starting port you would like to forward. E.g.8090
For “Ending Port” enter in the ending port you would like to forward. E.g. 8090
Enter the camera’s IP address in “Server IP Address”
Click on “Apply”

Step 6
To view the camera over the internet enter you router external IP address which can be found by typing into your browser.

Enter this IP address port for the camera (e.g. port 8090) is what should be typed into you browser.
